 Since system transformation in 2004NEUI has been taking on development and revitalization of China non-ferrous metals industry as its own prime responsibility, the strengthening of the industry’s core competitiveness of Chinese non-ferrous metals industry as its basic task, continuous innovation of aluminum industry technologies as the means and the promotion of energy saving & emission reduction as its goal. With many difficulties being overcome and useful explorations made, NEUI has achieved excellent results in many aspects.

In recent years, NEUI has completed the design for 54 alumina production lines with the capacity of each line ranging from 65 kt/a to 1 milliont/a for18 projects, adding up to a total capacity of 26 million t/a. Among them, 13 million t/a has been put into production and another 13 million/a is under construction.

 NEUI has also completed the design for 18 aluminum smelter projects with the capacity of each project ranging from 50 kt/a to 520 kt/a, adding up to a total capacity of 4.2 milliont/a. Among them 2538 kt/a has been put into production and 1820kt/a is under construction.

 In addition, NEUI has also completed the design for 8 carbon anode production projects with the capacity of each project ranging from 60 kt/a to 250 kt/a, adding up to a total capacity of 1.2 million t/a. Among them1.1 million t/a has been put into production and 100 kt/a is under construction.

 During the past five years, NEUI has taken the lead in developing large scale alumina production technologies and associated equipment, with the single line capacity ranging from 500 kt/a to 800 kt/a, of which, the 500kt/a production line design has been put into industrial application with  leading techno-economic indicators being achieved. In addition, NEUI is also the first company that has developed technologies to extract alumina based on non-bauxite resources and has applied it into industrial-scale production, such as the demonstration project of 240 kt/a alumina project based on high alumina content flyash for Datang International Renewable Energy Development Co., Ltd. This project is expected to be put into production in September, 2010.

With regard to the innovation of core technologies for high amperage reduction potlines, NEUI takes its advantages of  high-end technical talents and world class digital simulation technologies, first developing the 400kA, 500kA and 600kA family High Energy Efficiency Aluminum Reduction Potline technology.  NEUI is also the first company that completed the design for a 2300kt/a aluminum reduction demonstration project installed with the 400kA family high amperage reduction potlines, with world leading techno-economic indices being achieved.
